About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Personnel

to join our team and provide crucial support to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in establishing and maintaining independent lives within their own homes.


As a Direct Support Personnel, you will play a pivotal role in empowering

individuals to make meaningful choices, foster relationships, and participate actively in their communities. This role requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve.

Requirements

  • Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and a strong

    understanding of their unique needs.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with individuals,

    families, and support agencies.

  • Compassionate and patient demeanor with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse

    individuals.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage documentation and support

    plans.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and funding options related to supported living

    services.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-based environment.

  • Proficiency in computer applications for record-keeping and communication purposes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in selecting suitable homes, considering their preferences, needs, and

    budget.

  • Facilitate the smooth transition of individuals into their new homes, coordinating moving

    logistics and ensuring a comfortable settling-in process.

  • Collaborate with individuals to choose personal attendants and housemates who align with

    their goals and preferences.

  • Provide guidance and support in acquiring household furnishings and essentials to create a

    comfortable living environment.

  • Assist individuals in participating in daily living activities, promoting independence and skill

    development.

  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans to ensure the safety and well-being of

    individuals in various situations.

  • Facilitate engagement in community life by connecting individuals with social and recreational

    opportunities.

  • Offer guidance in managing personal financial affairs, budgeting, and accessing available

    benefits and income.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals' progress, goals, and support plans.

  • Collaborate with regional centers, In-Home Support Services, and other relevant agencies to

    secure necessary funding and resources.
